Healing doesn't only happen during our time together.

Sometimes a single sentence, a meaningful conversation, or a new perspective quietly opens a door. The resources below have shaped my own journey and continue to inform the way I understand trauma, healing, and what it means to come home to ourselves.

I hope you discover something here that supports you wherever you are on your path.

A Few Words Before You Begin

There is no single book, podcast, or practice that can create lasting change on its own.

While insight can be incredibly meaningful, healing most often unfolds through lived experience, relationship, and the gradual development of greater capacity within ourselves. Sometimes the right resource doesn't provide an answer—it simply helps us ask a new question or see ourselves through a different lens.

The books, podcasts, and resources below have profoundly influenced my own healing, shaped the way I understand trauma and human development, and continue to inform my work today. I hope they offer support, encouragement, and moments of meaningful reflection wherever you find yourself.

Recommended Reading

The following books have deeply influenced my understanding of trauma, healing, relationships, and what it means to become more fully ourselves. While each offers a unique perspective, they all share a common thread: a deep respect for our innate capacity to heal, grow, and reconnect.

Trauma & Healing

Healing Shame and Guilt

Laurence Heller

A compassionate exploration of shame and guilt through the lens of the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM). Rather than viewing these experiences as flaws to overcome, Heller invites us to understand how they develop and how healing becomes possible through greater awareness, connection, and self-compassion.

Healing Developmental Trauma

Laurence Heller & Aline LaPierre

The foundational book introducing NARM and one of the most influential resources in my own professional development. It offers a powerful framework for understanding how early relational experiences shape our patterns of connection, identity, and emotional well-being—and how those patterns can begin to shift through the therapeutic relationship.

Waking the Tiger

Peter Levine

An accessible introduction to Somatic Experiencing that explores how trauma becomes held within the body and how healing can emerge by working with our natural biological responses rather than against them.

In an Unspoken Voice

Peter Levine

A deeper exploration of trauma, resilience, and the body's remarkable capacity for healing. Levine weaves together neuroscience, clinical experience, and compelling stories that illuminate the profound intelligence of our embodied experience.

The Myth of Normal

Gabor Maté

A thought-provoking examination of how modern culture, chronic stress, and early relationships influence both emotional and physical health. This book broadens the conversation around trauma and challenges many assumptions about what we consider "normal."

In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts

Gabor Maté

A compassionate exploration of addiction that looks beyond symptoms to the underlying pain and unmet needs that often drive addictive behaviors. Whether or not addiction has been part of your story, this book offers profound insight into the human search for relief, connection, and healing.

Mindfulness, Presence & Eastern Wisdom

Healing is not only about understanding our experiences—it's also about cultivating a different relationship with ourselves. These resources invite us to slow down, become more present, and meet life with greater awareness, compassion, and openness. Drawing from contemplative traditions and mindfulness practices, they offer timeless perspectives that can gently support the healing process.

Radical Acceptance

Tara Brach

A beautiful invitation to meet ourselves with greater kindness rather than self-judgment. Through mindfulness and self-compassion, Tara Brach explores how accepting our present experience can become the foundation for meaningful change.

The Wisdom of Insecurity

Alan Watts

A thoughtful exploration of uncertainty, presence, and our tendency to search for security where none truly exists. Watts invites us to embrace the ever-changing nature of life with greater openness, curiosity, and trust.

Wherever You Go, There You Are

Jon Kabat-Zinn

A timeless introduction to mindfulness that reminds us healing often begins by learning to fully inhabit the present moment. Practical, accessible, and deeply grounding, it offers simple ways to cultivate awareness in everyday life.

The Miracle of Mindfulness

Thich Nhat Hanh

Written with warmth and simplicity, this classic teaches mindfulness as a way of living rather than a technique to master. Through everyday practices, Thich Nhat Hanh gently reminds us that peace and presence are often found in the simplicity of everyday life.

Depth Psychology & Meaning

Healing is not only about reducing symptoms—it's also about discovering who we are beneath the patterns that once helped us survive. These books explore the symbolic, psychological, and existential dimensions of being human, inviting us into a deeper relationship with ourselves and the lifelong process of becoming.

Man and His Symbols

Carl Jung

One of the most accessible introductions to Jung's work, this book explores dreams, symbolism, and the unconscious in a way that is both practical and deeply thought-provoking. It offers a new lens through which to understand the inner images and experiences that quietly shape our lives.

Memories, Dreams, Reflections

Carl Jung

Jung's autobiographical reflections weave together his life experiences, dreams, and the development of his psychological ideas. More than a memoir, it is an invitation to contemplate the lifelong process of self-discovery and the unfolding of one's authentic nature.

Podcasts & Conversations

Sometimes healing begins with a conversation that helps us see ourselves in a new way. These are voices that have profoundly shaped my understanding in different ways. Some speak directly to trauma and healing, while others explore mindfulness, philosophy, symbolism, and the broader questions of what it means to be human. Together, they continue to inform both my own healing and the way I approach this work.

The Transforming Trauma Podcast

Hosted by the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), this podcast features thoughtful conversations with clinicians, educators, and leaders exploring trauma, healing, attachment, and human development through a relational lens.

Being Well Podcast

Hosted by Dr. Rick Hanson and Forrest Hanson, Being Well blends neuroscience, psychology, mindfulness, and practical strategies for cultivating resilience, self-compassion, and emotional well-being. Their conversations are thoughtful, grounded, and highly accessible, offering practical insights for everyday life.

Alan Watts

Alan Watts' lectures explore presence, identity, uncertainty, and the nature of consciousness with a unique blend of Eastern philosophy and Western psychology. His talks continue to offer timeless perspectives on living with greater openness, curiosity, and freedom.

Terence McKenna

Terence McKenna's lectures explore consciousness, mythology, language, culture, and the mystery of human experience. While not focused on trauma or psychotherapy, his work invites deep reflection on perception, creativity, symbolism, and the larger questions of meaning, consciousness, and being human.

Looking Ahead

Life Rekindled continues to grow alongside my own learning, experience, and creative exploration. As this practice evolves, I'll continue expanding this page with additional books, articles, guided practices, educational resources, and original content that have meaningfully shaped my understanding of trauma, healing, and human development.

I'm also looking forward to sharing Expressions of the Heart—a future offering that will bring together creativity, reflection, and personal exploration through expressive art experiences designed to support healing, authentic connection, and self-discovery.

Whether through books, meaningful conversations, creative expression, or our work together, my hope is to continue creating spaces where curiosity is welcomed, healing can unfold, and more of you can emerge.

A Final Reflection

No book, podcast, or resource can do the work of healing for us.

Sometimes the right resource doesn't give us the answer—it simply helps us recognize something that has been quietly waiting within us all along.

Take what resonates. Leave what doesn't. Trust your own pace, your own experience, and your own unfolding. There is no right way to heal—only the way that gradually becomes your own.

Whether you're just beginning or have been doing this work for many years, I hope these resources offer encouragement, perspective, and meaningful companionship. More than anything, I hope they remind you that healing is possible, growth is lifelong, and you don't have to do it alone.

Begin Your Journey

If something you've read here resonates with you and you're curious about working together, I'd be honored to support you.
